Helen Hunt is to receive a career Golden Eye award at the Zurich Film Festival.

The Zurich Film Festival will honour actress Helen Hunt with a career Golden Eye award.

The festival, which takes place from September 20-30, will also stage a retrospective for the Oscar-winning actress to run alongside the European premiere of The Sessions on September 21 when she will receive her award in person.

Academy Award winner Hunt (As Good As It Gets) has been drawing strong notices for her performance as a sex surrogate in Ben Lewin’s Sundance title The Sessions.

Hunt will join John Travolta as a Zurich Film Festival 2012 Golden Eye honoree, while Richard Gere will receive the festival’s Golden Icon award and producer Jerry Weintraub is in line for a career achievement statuette.

The festival will also host a special tribute to German director Tom Tykwer.

The announcement was made today by ZFF Directors Karl Spoerri and Nadja Schildknecht. Said Spierri: ““Helen Hunt is one of the most talented and gracious actresses on screen today. We are excited to celebrate her remarkable career at the festival this year.”
