The Hollywood Foreign Press Association will present Robert De Niro with its Cecil B DeMille Award at the Golden Globes in January.

De Niro won the lead actor Oscar and dramatic actor Golden Globe for Raging Bull and earned the supporting actor award for The Godfather, Part II. His credits include Taxi Driver, The Deer Hunter, Midnight Run, Cape Fear, Angel Heart, Analyze This and Meet The Parents.

He stars in the recent crime drama Stone and upcoming roles include Little Fockers, the third instalment in the Meet The Parentscomedy franchise, as well as thriller The Dark Fields.

De Niro founded Tribeca Productions with Jane Rosenthal and launched the Tribeca Film Festival in 2011 in response to the World Trade Center terror attacks.

Previous Cecil B DeMille Award recipients include Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Warren Beatty, Anthony Hopkins, Michael Douglas and Barbra Streisand.

The 68th Golden Globes will take place in Beverly Hills on January 16, 2011.
