The company has picked up Taiwan rights to Incendies and The Solitude Of Prime Numbers.

Hiatus Media has announced it picked up all Taiwan rights to Denis Villeneuve’s Incendies from Entertainment One and Saverio Constanzo’s The Solitude of Prime Numbers from Le Pacte at Pusan’s Asian Film Market.

Hiatus Media duo Han T. Sun and Kelly Olson negotiated with Entertainment One’s Anick Poirier for Incendies and Le Pacte’s Nathalie Jeung for The Solitude Of Prime Numbers.

“We are thrilled to have both of these titles, as they are both exactly the kind of films we search for,” said Han T. Sun of Hiatus Media. “Incendies is Dénis Villeneuve’s best work yet, and it’s such a great cinematic achievement that we are very proud to bring it into our line-up. As for The Solitude of Prime Numbers, we are happy to share this unique and emotional journey with audiences in Taiwan. The book has been a bestseller in Taiwan and we believe the film will be as well.”

Incendies, a story about a mother’s last wishes, sends twin siblings on a journey to the Middle East in search of their tangled roots. The film received rave reviews at Venice and Toronto and has been chosen as Canada’s submission to the Oscars’ Best Foreign Language Film category.

The Solitude of Prime Numbers is based on a bestselling novel about two friends who have struggled through personal tragedy. The film screened in Venice and Toronto where it did a raft of deals, too.

Established in 2010, Taiwanese distributor Hiatus Media’s upcoming lineup includes the Cannes Palme d’Or winner Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, Tilda Swinton-starring I Am Love, and Mathieu Amalric’s Cannes Best Director winner On Tour.
