Beijing-based Enlight Pictures is working with five Hong Kong film-makers on a series of action genre films developed by the company's in-house development department.

The plans include Chen Zhen from Gordon Chan (Painted Skin). Donnie Yen will play folk hero Chen Zhen, the character portrayed in Bruce Lee's Fist Of Fury and other Hong Kong films.

Other projects incude:

  • Kirk Wong's Five Venoms, a co-production with Celestial Pictures.
  • Joe Ma's 3rd Dock
  • A film from Lee Chi-ngai (Sleepless Town, Magic Kitchen) tentatively-titled The Lurking Dragon
  • And Virus from Dante Lam (Sniper, Twins Effect)

According to Zhang Zhao, CEO of Enlight Pictures, the films will be budgeted between $4m (RMB30m) and $15m (RMB100m), aimed mainly at the Chinese mainland market.

Enlight is looking for co-producers for the projects, aiming to start in late 2008 and early 2009.

The company has also signed an adaptation agreement with Beijing-based Free Element Media and Culture for popular play Mahua.
