She replaces Robert Rosen, who will step down as dean after 13 years.

Schwartz, a UCLA alumnus, had been professor and inaugural dean of Loyola Marymount University’s School of FIlm and TV in Los Angeles since 2003.

She is also a producer whose credits include Beaches, Joe Versus The Volcano, and Sister Act.

The appointment was announced by Scott L. Waugh, UCLA’s Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost.

“I also want to thank Dean Robert Rosen for nearly 13 years of distinguished service as dean and for his numerous contributions to UCLA,” Waugh said. “I am confident that the School of Theater, Film and Television will thrive under Teri’s capable leadership.”
