China Star's Lost In Time, starring Cecilia Cheung and Louis Koo, opened at the top of the Hong Kong box office chart grossing $941,553 and a strong screen average of $22,965. The romantic drama, about a woman coming to terms with her husband's death, is directed by Derek Yee whose credits include award-winning dramas such as Viva Erotica and C'est La Vie Mon Cheri.
Two US movies - Scary Movie 3 and Intolerable Cruelty - opened in second and fourth place respectively. Scary Movie 3, distributed by Golden Scene, grossed $290,232 for a respectable screen average of $11,163. Intolerable Cruelty, which is not proving as popular in Asia as in the West, took $115,131 from 14 screens.
The week's other opener - costume drama Miss Du Shi Niang - struggled in a crowded week, despite positive reviews, grossing $26,478 from 10 screens.
