Dennis Hopper will receive alifetime achievement award for persistence of vision at the upcoming SantaMonica Film Festival. In a statement released today (Feb 5) festival directorMichael Cain said: 'The opportunity to give Mr Hopper an award is anoverwhelming experience for me. With hundreds of critically acclaimed moviesunder his belt since the 1950s, he truly deserves this award. His filmographyis thought-provoking, diverse and has left an indelible mark on moviegoers andfilm-makers alike.'
The festival, which takesplace from Feb 13-16, will screen more than 40 pictures and also plans tohonour Matt Stone and Trey Parker with the maverick film-makers award for theiroeuvre which includes South Park: Bigger, Longer And Uncut, BASEketball and Orgazmo.
