IFC Entertainment has added another title to the line-up at day-and-date division IFC First Take, acquiring all North American rights to Canana Films' Spanish-language drama Drama/Mex.

Drama/Mex premiered in Critic's Week at Cannes 2006 and interweaves the stories of a suicidal old man, a teenage runaway, and a young couple in the grip of a tempestuous love affair.

Gerardo Naranjo directed and the film stars Fernando Becerril, Juan Pablo Castaneda, Diana Garcia, Miriana Moro and Emilio Valdes. Gabriel Garcia, Santiago Paredes and Miriana Moro produced and Garcia, Renato Ornelas, Yibran Asuad, Diego Luna, Gael Garcia Bernal, Pablo Cruz and Kyzza Terrazas served as executive producers.

'Drama/Mex is a beautifully told story explored with fresh and provocative style,' IFC Entertainment president Jonathan Sehring said.

'It represents the true independent spirit of filmmaking and fits beautifully into the First Take slate.'

Arianna Bocco and Elizabeth Nastro negotiated the acquisition with Endeavor Independent. First Take launched at Sundance 2006.
