Nightcrawler star Jake Gyllenhaal will re-team with director Antoine Fuqua on new AFM sales title The Man Who Made It Snow after the pair recently wrapped production on Southpaw.

The first project to emerge from Fuqua Films’ first-look deal with IM Global is a biopic about the notorious 1980s cocaine smuggler Max Mermelstein – at the time the only American admitted to the inner circle of the Colombian cocaine cartel.

Brett Tabor and Michael Kingston adapted the screenplay based on the late Mermelstein’s autobiography of the same title.

Gyllenhaal will also produce alongside Fuqua, Tabor and IM Global’s Matt Jackson. IM Global CEO Stuart Ford serves as executive producer.

WME and attorney Alan Hergott of Bloom Hergott Diemer Rosenthal Laviolette brokered the deal with IM Global head of business affairs Deborah Zipser and Ford.

Under the terms of the Fuqua Films deal, IM Global will fully finance and co-produce The Man Who Made It Snow when it is scheduled to shoot in late 2015.
