Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 is on the verge of crossing $1bn after Disney executives reported on Wednesday [15] it had reached $980.3m worldwide.
This makes the film the second biggest superhero releases behind Marvel’s The Avengers and the 13th biggest international release on $685.6m.
China has accounted for $104.5m, followed by South Korea on $54.9m, the UK on $48.9m, Mexico on $42.9m, Russia on $39.3m, Brazil on $38.4m, France on $36.1m and Australia on $33.5m.
The North American tally has soared to $294.7m.
