Image Entertainment has taken US home video, broadcast and digital rights to Sidney Lumet's Before The Devil Knows You're Dead.

Philip Seymour Hoffman, Marisa Tomei, Ethan Hawke and Albert Finney star in the story of two brothers who hatch an ill-fated plan to rob their own parents.

The deal was struck with Capitol Films US, which like Image is affiliated with financier David Bergstein. Sister company THINKFilm is handling the US theatrical release, which expanded yesterday from New York to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Chicago, Washington DC and Seattle. A wider release is planned for Thanksgiving weekend.

'The vision for the investor group acquiring Image is building a worldwide all-encompassing entertainment organization. That vision begins to be realized with Image's acquisition of Before the Devil Knows You're Dead,' said Martin W. Greenwald, Image's president and CEO. 'With Capitol Films responsible for international sales, THINKFilm handling the domestic theatrical release and Image managing domestic home video, broadcast and digital, the group is clearly on track for dynamic growth.'

Chatsworth, California-based Image has exclusive DVD rights to about 3,000 titles.
