Inception and The Social Network won the main prizes at the Writers Guild of America (WGA) awards on Saturday night.

Christopher Nolan’s Inception won for best original screenplay, while The Social Network, written by Aaron Sorkin, won for best adapted screenplay.

Peter Morgan won for his screenplay for longform TV drama The Special Relationship.

For documentary, the winner was Charles Ferguson’s Inside Job, co-written by Chad Beck and Adam Bolt.

Steven Zaillian, writer of films including Schindler’s List, was given the lifetime achievment award.

Another Year and The King’s Speech — both Oscar screenplay award contenders — weren’t in the running because of guild rules.
