Principal photography hasbegun in Marrakesh, Morocco, on Oliver Stone's Alexander The Great project for Intermedia, which Warner Bros willrelease in the US in November 2004.

Colin Farrell stars in thelead role as the all-conquering ancient leader, and the film also starsAngelina Jolie, Anthony Hopkins, Val Kilmer, Rosario Dawson, Jared Leto andJonathan Rhys-Meyers.

"Actually startingproduction on this movie about Alexander the Great is the culmination of 13years of hard work for me, although my fascination with him goes back even furtherthan that," Stone said in a statement.

"In the spirit of Alexander,Colin Farrell is a force of nature, a defiant, rebellious young man who happensto be a hell of a good actor."

Once filming is complete inMarrakesh, the film will shoot interiors in London, followed by more locationshooting in Thailand.

It is being producedby Thomas Schuehly (The Name Of The Rose), Moritz Borman (Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines; The WeddingPlanner), Jon Kilik (Dead ManWalking) and Iain Smith (ColdMountain).

Fernando Sulichin (PersonaNon Grata) and Gianni Nunnari (FromDusk Til Dawn) of Cecchi Gori serveas co-executive producers.
