The Seventh Shanghai International Film Festival awarded itsBest Film Award to Iranian film Tradition Of Lover Killing at its closing ceremony held on Sunday night.

Meryl Streep and Chinese actor Chen Daoming were on hand topresent the award to director Khosro Masum. The film is about an impoverishedIranian family caught up in the world of illegal logging.

Sixteen films, nine from Europe and seven from Asia competedfor the Jin Jue Award at the nine-day festival, which opened on June 5.

South Korea's Untold Scandal won two awards: Best Director and Best Music.

Hong Kong's Gu Meihua won Best Actress prize for herperformance in Shanghai Story. And JasmineWomen with Zhang Ziyi as the leadingactress won the Jury Grand Prix.

The prizes were awarded by a six member jury: Chinesedirector Ding Yinnan, Korean director and producer Park Chul-soo, Japanesedirector Kuroki Kzuo, chairman of Hong Kong Film Awards Manfred Wong, Frenchdirector Olivier Assayas and Ron Henderson, founder and artistic director of theDenver Film Society.
