The inaugural Los Angeles Irish Film Festival will run from October 2-5 at the Clarity Theatre in Beverly Hills.

Festival directors Lisa McLaughlin-Strassman and Niall McKay aim to develop the profile of Irish cinema and to this end will programme features, documentaries and shorts and stage on-stage interviews.

The event is sponsored in part by the Irish Dairy Board, Culture Ireland, the Irish Film Institute and Bushmills. The closing night celebration and screening will take place at the Silent Movie Theatre in Los Angeles.

The festival's advisory board includes directors Jim Sheridan, Neil Jordan and Mary McGuckian. Each month leading up to the event, programmer John Lyons will offer screenings of award winning films at the Clarity.
