UK-basedsales agent Pathe International has sold Nir Bergman's darkly comic Israelidrama Broken Wingsto Optimum Releasing for the UK, Diaphana for France and to Cine Video Y TV forMexico in deals finalised at the American Film Market.

On the backof the film's outing in Berlin, where it went to Sony Pictures Classics forNorth America, Pathe has also closed deals with A Film for the Benelux,Switzerland's Prooptiki and Argentina's Ringford.

BrokenWings, which wassubmitted by Israel for a foreign language Academy Award nomination, tells thestory of a family dealing with the death of a father in a tragically absurdaccident.

Sincepremiering at the Jerusalem Film Festival last year, Broken Wings has collected a hat-full of awardsincluding prizes for best first film at Jerusalem and Tokyo and nine out ofeleven awards at the recent Israeli Academy Awards.

On Israelitheatrical distribution it also performed to blockbuster standards, garneringover 200,000 admissions. Pathe International picked up the film after MIFED
