Jane Wright has been appointed as managing director of BBC Films and Christine Langan has been appointed to the role of creative director of the division.

Wright will oversee day-to-day responsibility for business, operations and marketing aspects of the division and will retain an executive producing role within BBC Films, while Langan will be responsible for developing the editorial strategy and commissioning of the film slate.

The restructure follows the departure of Jane Tranter, the controller of fiction, last year and it aims to simplify the editorial structure at BBC Fiction and sees Tranter’s previous role scrapped.

The changes will not affect Joe Oppenheimer and Jamie Laurenson, who will remain executive producers for BBC Films.

Sue Deeks has also been appointed as head of acquisitions as part of the change, while  Steve Jenkins will report to Deeks while retaining his focus on film acquisitions.
