Jason Brenek, who most recently served as Walt Disney Studios' vice president of distribution strategy, has been promoted to the newly created position of senior vice president of worldwide digital cinema and cinema programming.

Brenek will oversee digital cinema deployment across the globe and develop and oversee cinema programming in digitally equipped theatres, which covers all non-feature content including 3-D or live events.

He will report to Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Group president Mark Zoradi and work directly with distribution president Chuck Viane and Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International distribution president Anthony Marcoly.

Zoradi called Brenek 'the ideal choice' for the role, noting the latter's part in overseeing the studio's first foray into digital 3-D cinema with Chicken Little and the recent success with Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best Of Both Worlds Concert, which has grossed more than $64m to date.

Brenek joined Buena Vista Home Entertainment International in 1996 and returned to the Disney fold in 2003 following a stint at 20th Century Fox and consultants Bain & Company.
