Angelina Jolie will be honoured at the 23rd annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) on Feb 2 2008 with the Outstanding Performance Of The Year Award for her role in A Mighty Heart.

Jolie plays Mariane Pearl, the widow of murdered Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. Michael Winterbottom's film is adapted from Pearl's book of the same name.

After breaking out in HBO's 1998 film Gia, Jolie went on to earn a best supporting actress Oscar nomination in 2000 for Girl, Interrupted. She has starred in box office hits such as the Tomb Raider series and Mr & Mrs Smith, and will next be heard as the voice of Grendel's mother in the animated adventure Beowulf.
