CSI: Crime Scene Investigation star Archie Kao has signed on as the male lead in Wayne Wang’s adaptation of Lisa See’s bestseller Snow Flower And The Secret Fan.

He joins Hugh Jackman and Asian stars Li Bing-Bing (The Forbidden Kingdom) and Gianna Jun (Blood: The Last Vampire). Filming is under way at Hengdian World Studios in the Chinese province of Zhejiang.

The English-language story centres on the forbidden love between two women. Rupert Murdoch’s wife Wendi produces with MGM chairman Harry Sloan’s wife Florence.
