Katharine Kim has been appointed CEO of leading Korean investor/distributor CJ Entertainment.

She replaces Kim Joo-sung, who was appointed to head cable company CJ Media in a slew of executive movements announced by conglomerate parentCJ Group yesterday.

Having joined CJ Entertainment in 2005, Katharine Kim has become the first woman CEO in CJ Group.

She was promoted from executive vice president of CJ Entertainment's International Business where she oversaw local and international distribution of the CJ slate as well as international co-productions such as August Rush; and the local distribution of the Paramount and DreamWorks slates.

Kim's background includes executive positions at Columbia Tristar Film of Korea and Art Service.
