Simon Kenny has been appointed president of the newly formedWarner Bros Digital Distribution, part of the sprawling Warner Bros Home EntertainmentGroup (WBHEG) division announced last October.

Kenny will manage the worldwide electronic distribution streams ofcontent across a wide array of platforms that includes pay-per-view, electronicsell-through, video-on-demand, subscription-video-on-demand, and wireless,among others.

He will also oversee Warner Bros' worldwide digital strategy, partnershipsin digital services and emerging new clients and business activities.

Kenny currently serves as executive vice president, Europe for WarnerBros International Television Distribution (WBITD) and is based in London. Hewill relocate to Burbank and commence his new role at the end of May, reportingto WBHEG president Kevin Tsujihara.

A successor to Kenny as head of Europe for WBITD will be announcedin the coming weeks.

"Our priority is the consumer, and our focus is on ensuringthat our product is available to them on as many platforms with as much flexibility,functionality and portability as they desire," Tsujihara said.

He added: "Simon's experience in existing, emerging and next-generationdistribution scenarios makes him the perfect choice to head up our digitaldistribution initiative, and we're pleased to have him as an integral member ofour team."

Kenny has served in his current role at WBITD since January 2004after joining the division in 2003 as senior vice president, Europe.

Prior to that he worked at Disney for more than a decade, where heclimbed from director of barter sales to senior vice president and managingdirector of The Walt Disney internet group, Europe.
