Germany's KinoweltFilmverleih has resurrected its Arthaus label for the theatrical release of arthousetitles.

The first film to bereleased under the Arthaus label will be Marc Forster's Stay starring Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts onFebruary 23. The film, which wasreleased by 20th Century Fox in the US last year, is also screeningin Panorama here at Berlin.

Stay will be followed in the coming months by theBerlinale opening film Snow Cake,George Clooney's Good Night, And Good Luck, Gavin Hood's Oscar-nominated Tsotsi, and Pepe Danquart's extreme sports documentary ToThe Limit (Am Limit).

The Arthaus name has notbeen used as a theatrical releasing label for some time, instead being used as thehome entertainment brand for arthouse titles, German and international filmclassics, and nature documentaries. In addition, more than 270 music DVDs hadbeen published by Arthaus Musik of operas, ballet productions and classicalconcerts.

Kinowelt Filmverleih's managingdirector Bertil le Claire revealed that the group's arthouse films would nowalso be scheduled each evening between 20.15 and midnight on Kinowelt's owndigital pay TV thematic channel Kinowelt TV.
