Madrid-based sales house Kevin Williams Associates (KWA) has picked up worldwide rights to three new films - The Blue Room (La Habitacion Azul), The Suit (El Traje) and November (Noviembre) - the company announced at the San Sebastian International Film Festival (Sept 19-28).
The trio of pick-ups link KWA directly to Spanish production company Plural Entertainment, which is backed 100% by media conglomerate Grupo Prisa. Plural is a co-producer on Mexican film The Blue Room and a backer on The Suit and November through 80% buy-out of production house Tesela in June. Tesela's Jose Antonio Felez produced both of the latter films and negotiated the deal with KWA.
Director Walter Doehner's The Blue Room is set to premiere in Spain in competition at the Valladolid Film Week. KWA has worldwide rights outside North America and Mexico. The deal was negotiated between KWA and Mexican co-producers Videocine, Argos and Televisa.
Alberto Rodriguez's The Suit tells the story of a man whose life changes completely when he puts on the wrong suit. The film is competing for the New Directors award in the Zabaltegi section of San Sebastian.
November marks director Achero Manas' much anticipated follow-up to his multiple award-winning debut feature Pellet (El Bola). The film, about an alternative theatre troupe, is currently shooting.
