Joel Hopkins's romance Last Chance Harvey will receive its world premiere on November 8 after joining the AFI FEST 2008 line-up as a late entry.

Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson star in the London-set tale of an unhappy man whose fortunes change when he discovers an unlikely companion at his daughter's wedding.

Kathy Baker, James Brolin, Eileen Atkins, Liane Balaban and Richard Schiff also star in the Overture Films release, due to open in North America on December 26. Hopkins, Hoffman and Thompson are confirmed to attend the centerpiece screening.

'AFI holds a standard of excellence for all things film and beyond,' Overture Films' CEO Chris McGurk said. 'We are honoured that Last Chance Harvey was chosen for the festival this year. It's a film that Overture is proud to share with audiences worldwide and we're delighted AFI will be its premiere destination.'

'This is a classic romantic film with two of the most beloved stars, Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson, who make a wonderful screen pairing,' AFI FEST artistic director Rose Kuo said. 'We held a few places in our schedule just in case a film like this would become available after we had locked our programming and in this particular case our strategy paid off very well.'

AFI FEST also announced the addition of the following films: Juan Taratuto's dark comedy Boyfriend For My Wife from Argentina; Anna Chi's US drama Dim Sum Funeral; Ella Lemhagen's Swedish gay drama Patrik 1.5; Kiyoshi Kurosawa's Japanese drama Tokyo Sonata; and George Dunning's classic Beatles film from 1968, Yellow Submarine.

AFI FEST 2008 is scheduled to run from October 30-November 9. For further details visit www.AFI.com.
