German private film fund LenLinas and fledgling theatrical distributor Nighthawks Pictures have sealed a video distribution deal with Hanover-based video wholesaler Megaview Entertainment Cooperation (MEC).
The pact covers six English-language features produced by LenLinas and CH Media over the next three years and include LenLinas' $3.9m (DM 7.4m) Island In The Sun, starring Ellen Schwiers and Claude-Oliver Rudolph.
Other titles include five films produced via CH Media's First Feature Project initiative, spanning the $2.3m (DM 4.3m) Franco Nero-starrer White Lies and the $2.8m (DM 5.4m) Das Kaleidoscop, starring Goetz Otto.
The deal is part of the video wholesaler's strategy to become a fully fledged player in the German video distribution sector. MEC has already launched a German Movies label to release TV movies via rental and sell-through, and has an existing deal with Nighthawks to handle the video distribution of its third-party acquisitions.
In return, Nighthawks will release features where MEC had acquired the theatrical rights in addition to those for video and DVD.
