As the AFM reaches the midway stage, Les Plages D'Agnes from veteran French auteur Agnes Varda, has been sold to a handful of new territories.

Deals have been closed by French sales Roissy Films with Zazie Films for Japan, Cineart for Benelux and Seville Pictures for Canada. A UK deal is expected shortly. Roissy is in advanced discussions on Portugal and South Korea and has received offers for the US, Austria and Spain.

Les Plages D'Agnes or The Beaches Of Agnes is an autobiographical documentary. Taking beaches as her point of departure, Varda looks back on her life: her relationship with her husband, Jacques Demy (best known for Les Parapluies de Cherbourg) and her own career in filmmaking. Varda uses photographs, archive footage, scenes from her films and present-day sequences in what is essentially a journey through her life.

The film has been receiving its first market screenings here in Santa Monica. Other Roissy films debuting at the AFM include Martin Provost's Seraphine, François Rotger's Locarno entry Story Of Jen starring Marina Hands and Marco Amenta's The Sicilian Girl.
