Life Of Pi is poised to open in Japan this weekend and has already been a hit in Asia, amassing $90m in China and more than $15m each in Lee’s native Taiwan and India.
The film shot in Taiwan, India and Canada and is nominated for 11 Academy Awards.
Irrfan Khan, Gérard Depardieu, Ayush Tandon, Tabu and Rafe Spall are among the cast. Gil Netter produced with David Womark and Lee, while Dean Georgaris is the executive producer.
