Los Angeles based sales and distribution house LightningEntertainment has swooped on international rights prior to AFM to CarlaGarapedian's genocide documentary Screamers.

The picture features the participation of the rock band System OfA Down and explores how the denial of the Armenian genocide contributed toother international crises including the ongoing situation in Darfur, Sudan.

Garapedian follows System Of A Down, a politically consciousfour-piece of Armenian descent, as they tour Europe and the US and highlightthe plight of genocide victims.

Garapedian produced with Nick de Grunwald, Tim Swain and PeterMcAlevey and Maya Releasing will open the picture in the US in December.Garapedian's credits include Lifting The Veil.

'Screamers is a gripping political documentary that addresses an issueripped from today's headlines in a manner that captures and educatesviewers,' Lightning partner Richard Guardian said.

Guardian negotiated the deal with Swain and McAlevey on behalf ofthe filmmakers. Screamers is an MG2 Productions film in association with BBC Television andThe Raffy Manoukian Charity.
