The jury of experts has been named to select Europe’s 10 best acting talents for European Film Promotion’s (EFP) Shooting Stars 2012 showcase, which will be held during the upcoming Berlinale from Feb 11-13, 2012

The 2012 jury will comprise Danish-born actor Thure Lindhardt (himself a Shooting Star in 2000); Romanian producer and 2011 “Producer On The Move” Ada Solomon, whose recent credits include First Of All, Felicia and Everybody In Our Family; German casting director Simone Bär, who was responsible for the German casting of such international co-productions as The Reader, Inglourious Basterds and Anonymous; veteran Dutch filmmaker Marleen Gorris whose credits include Antonia’s Line, Within The Whirlwind; and UK film critic Matt Mueller.

The candidates to be considered by the jury at a meeting at the beginning of December were proposed by EFP member organisations from across Europe.

Shooting Stars has been celebrating Europe’s young acting talent at the Berlinale since 1998 and to date has showcased a total of 233 emerging names such as Andrea Riseborough, David Kross, Ana Geislerova, Daniel Craig, Daniel Brühl, Tómas Lemarquis and Ludivine Sagnier.

The three-day event – including an industry breakfast with casting directors and workshops in cooperation with the Berlinale Talent Campus – will culminate with the presentation of the Shooting Stars Award by Shooting Stars’ main 2012 sponsor Tesiro on the stage of the Berlinale Palast on the evening of Feb 13.
