Lionsgate has closed worldwide sales on Andrew Currie's comedyhorror Fido, whichstars Billy Connolly as a pet zombie and gets its world premiere here as theopening night of the Canada First! Programme. Carrie-Anne Moss and Tim BlakeNelson also star.

Rights have gone to Japan (Toshiba), France (Metropolitan), Italy(Rai), Mexico and Central America (Gussi), Brazil (Paris Filmes), Russia andthe Baltic states (Central Partnership), Benelux (Film De L'Elysee), Portugal(LNK), and Indonesia (PT Amero Mitra).

Deals also closed in Thailand (Major Cinepictures), the MiddleEast (Eagle Films), South Africa (Ster Kinekor), Hong Kong and China(Panorama), Turkey (FIDA/PRA), the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland (SPI),Romania (ProRom), Croatia and Serbia Blitz), Iceland (Myndform); Greece(Spentzos), Malaysia (Soundspace/PT Parki), and Bulgaria Alexandra).

"Fidois a heartwarming comedy combined with a unique and stylish look and features a first-class cast in Billy Connolly, Carrie-Anne Moss and Tim Blake Nelson," Lionsgate international president Nick Meyer said.

The company previously announced that Entertainment FilmDistributors will distribute in the UK and AB Svensk in Scandinavia. Lionsgatewill release the film in the US in 2007.
