Lionsgatehas picked up worldwide rights excluding Mexico to Javier Patron Fox'sdirectorial debut Beyond The Sky (FueraDel Cielo).

Thisis the company's second worldwide acquisition following the Spanish-languagedrama La Mujer De Mi Hermano under itsdeal with Panamax Films to develop and produce pictures targeting Latino audiences.

Mexicanfilmmaker Fox's crime drama is set in Mexico City Set and is based on ascreenplay by Guillermo Rio and Vicente Lenero. It premiered recently at theGuadalajara Film Festival where Fox won the best director award.

JorgeAragon, Carlos Payan, Epigmenio Ibarra, Inna Payan, Eckehart Von Damm, MiguelAngel Davila, Victor Ugalde and Mario Aguinaga served as producers. Videocinewill release in Mexico on Dec 29.

"Thespotlight is very much on Mexico right now as an exciting place for discoveringinteresting new talent and Javier Patron Fox's Fuera Del Cielo is a stunningdebut feature from a very gifted director that will appeal to modern audiencesin both the US and internationally," Lionsgate's president ofinternational Nick Meyer said.

LaMujer De Mi Hermano grossed an estimated$3.5m in Mexico last year and also ranked number one in Venezuela, Colombia andPeru.
