The studio announced today [Mar 31] it had extended its lucrative partnership with Perry through a multi-year arrangement.
The prolific actor and filmmaker’s output has spawned 10 films over the past six years and generated more than $520m at the North American box office, many of them featuring the celebrated Madea character.
Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family is set to open on Apr 22 and We The Peeples is in the pipeline along with two new Madea films
Perry has also contributed two hit television shows to the pipeline – Tyler Perry’s House Of Payne and its spinoff Meet The Browns, which are distributed by Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury.
Lionsgate negotiated the deal with Matt Johnson from Ziffren Brittenham and WME on behalf of Perry.
