João Rui Guerra da Mata and Pedro Rodrigues direct the Locarno world premiere title.

As Locarno’s Industry Days programme kicks off tomorrow, it has been confirmed that Films Boutique has taken on international rights for The Last Time I Saw Macao (A ultima vez que vi Macau), by João Rui Guerra da Mata and Pedro Rodrigues. The film is in Locarno’s competition and has its world premiere on Monday.

This follows from other Locarno deals, with M-Appeal taking on Pecular Vacation and Other Illnesses and Polvo and Rai Trade boarding Padroni di Casa.

Jean-Christophe Simon, CEO of the Films Boutiques, declared: “After the success of To Die Like A Man on the international market, we are very happy to collaborate again with Joao Pedro Rodrigues. Since O Fantasma Joao Pedro is creating his own world playing with limits, styles and genre. He proves once again with The Last Time I Saw Macao that he is one of the most important and creative filmmaker of his generation and that his cinema can cross borders.“
