Sergei Stanojkovksi'sfeature debut Kontakt has beensubmitted by Macedonia as its national entry for the Academy Awards' Best ForeignLanguage Film category.
Starring Labina Mitevska and Nikola Kojo, the Macedonian-German co-productionbetween Skopje Film Studio and Busse & Halberschmidt Filmproduktion had itsworld premiere at last year's Manaki Brothers International CinematographersFilm Festival in Macedonia's Bitola and won awards at festivals in Linz, Lecce, Houston and Brooklyn. International sales are being handled by EastWestDistibution.
Stanojkovski is a member of the Student Programme jury at this year's ManakiBrothers festival which opened on Tuesday evening with a screening of JamesMcTeigue's V For Vendetta and thepresentation of a Special Golden Camera 300 Award to UK actor-director CharlesDance for his 'outstanding contribution to the world cinema' followedby the showing of his 2004 film Ladies InLavender.
