Fortissimo Films has pickedup worldwide rights outside Australia/NZ to black comedy Suburban Mayhem,directed by Australia's Paul Goldman (Australian Rules), andproduced by Lea Churchill Brown with The Piano's Jan Chapman executiveproducing. Icon will distribute in Australia/NZ.

The film, about a murderousteenager, starts shooting in Sydney and Newcastle on August 26, starring NZ actress Emily Barclay,Michael Dorman, Anthony Hayes, Genvieve Lemon and newcomer Mia Wasikoska.

Investors in the film includethe Australia's Film Finance Corporation, the NSW Film and TVoffice, and PMP Showtime.

Written by first-timer AliceBell, Suburban Mayhem is about a manipulative 19-year-old living with atoddler in Australian suburbia who won't let anything come between her and thegood life - not even her father. According to Fortissimo co-chairman WouterBarendrecht: "This is wild and unique - something I think our distributors willgo for."

Goldman's previous workincludes local hit Australian Rules, while Chapman's producing creditsalso include Somersault (also as executive producer), Lantana andHoly Smoke (producer).
