UK distributor Metrodome has acquired Mary McGuckian'ssatire Rag Tale which it plans to release in September/ October2005.

Rag Tale chronicles a week in the life of atabloid newspaper in contemporary London. Its tyrannical chairman andobsequious editor (who also happens to be sleeping with the chairman's wife)battle for political supremacy, using staff journalists as pawns in the powergames they play out in the pages of the press.

Directed by Mary McGuckian, Rag Tale's castincludes Simon Callow, Lucy Davis, Kerry Fox, Rupert Graves, Ian Hart, DavidHayman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Cal Macaninch, Malcolm McDowell, Bill Paterson,John Sessions and Sara Stockbridge.

Mary McGuckian formed the UK company Pembridge Pictureswith her brother Garrett McGuckian. Their films to date include Best (2000),This is The Sea (1997), Words Upon the Windowpane (1994) and The Bridgeof San Luis Rey (2004), starring Robert De Niro. Rag Tale is thefirst of a trilogy of films in the same style. The second Funny Farm, isto be set in a rehab clinic.
