German regional funding body Filmstiftung NRW has awarded $1.1m (DM2.5m) to Spoils, a co-production between Germany's Dazu Film and Belgium's Corsan, which is set to star Alec Baldwin and Linda Fiorentino.

The film, to be directed by Nicholas Meyer, is about two US soldiers who make off with a haul of jewels from a castle in Germany at the end of WWII. Meyer plans to film large portions of the movie in a castle near Munster. Production is scheduled to start in spring next year.

NRW also gave $0.79m (DM1.8m) to Regina Ziegler Film's Suche Impotenten Mann Fur's Leben, which is based on the bestseller by Gaby Hauptmann and will be directed by Sharon von Wietersheim. The film is scheduled to shoot this autumn.

In addition, X Filme Creative Pool's Goodbye Lenin, to be directed by Wolfgang Becker next spring, was awarded $0.42m (DM950,000).
