Fox'sMinority Report enjoyed a strongItalian bow over the weekend, debuting at number one with a $2.78m gross from397 screens in what was a personal best in the territory for Tom Cruise. Thestar did the pre-launch publicity rounds in Rome last week with director StevenSpielberg, helping him pass his previous best of $2.34m for UIP's MissionImpossible 2 in 2000. Even beforethe Italian opening, the sci-fi thriller crossed the $100m international grossmark late last week.

MinorityReport also fared well in itsopening weekend in Holland, going straight in at number one with $595,010,including previews, on 108 screens. It was the year's sixth highest opening inthe territory. The picture went to the top of the charts in Turkey with$307,822 form 64 venues, earning the accolade of third highest Fox release inthe territory behind Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace and Titanic. Over a four-day opening weekend in Czech Republic/Slovakia, MinorityReport took $170,607 from 38 screensfor Fox's third highest ever opening there behind Star Wars: Episode I - ThePhantom Menace and Star Wars:Episode II - The Attack Of The Clones.

Overall Minority Report tookaround $4.5m for the weekend and to date has grossed $105.07m internationallyand $235.85m worldwide. This is an impressive tally considering the picture hasonly opened in two major European markets - Italy and the UK, where it hasgrossed $31.55m. It rolls out in France, Belgium and Switzerland on Oct 2;Germany and Austria on Oct 3; and Spain and Portugal on Oct 4.
