New York independent publicity firm Murphy PR has promoted Jessica Edwards to vice president and hired Heter Myers.

Edwards joined Murphy PR in 2004 shortly after the company launched.

Prior to that she served as programming producer for Resfest Canada and held a number of production positions on Canadian film and television projects.

Myers previously worked at communications firm Sloane & Company handling Fortune 500 accounts.

'Jessica is a true advocate for independent film,' said Murphy PR principal John Murphy.

'Her passion and knowledge enables her to deftly lift media campaigns above the chatter.

'We are thrilled to be working with her and to announce that Heter has joined our team. He brings a strong strategic background to the table which will help support the growing corporate entertainment area of our business.'

Murphy PR's current clients include Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato's World Of Wonder Productions, Nehst Studios and Rialto Pictures.

Upcoming film campaigns include Focus Features' Eastern Promises, Warner Independent's documentary Darfur Now, and Picturehouse's comedy and David Schwimmer directorial debut Run, Fat Boy, Run.
