The Betrayal (Nerakhoon), War Child and Flow are among a 14-film lineup that will screen at the International Documentary Association's (IDA) inaugural New York showcase DocuWeek.

The event is inspired by DocuWeek's successful and ongoing run in Los Angeles and will give documentaries a chance to qualify for the Oscars. Academy rules stipulate that to be eligible for Oscar consideration, a documentary must be exhibited on theatrical screens for paid admissions in Los Angeles County and Manhattan, twice daily for at least seven consecutive days. The New York event will take place from August 8-14 and the Los Angeles event runs from August 22-28.

'We developed this showcase to give deserving film-makers an opportunity to qualify for Oscar consideration by providing theatrical platforms where their films can be seen,' IDA president Diane Estelle Vicari said. 'In addition to our annual Los Angeles run, we are thrilled to also bring these outstanding films to audiences in New York for the first time.'
