Harry Potter And ThePrison Of Azkaban's NZ$1.79m gross for its opening weekend is nearly doublethe combined result of the rest of the films in the top 20 chart, and about 75%up on the result for The Day AfterTomorrow two weeks earlier. Roadshow released Harry Potter on a whopping (for New Zealand) 82 screens andregistered a screen average of NZ$21,836.

There were two other openers in the top 20 including UIP's Dawn Of The Dead, which sold NZ$83,133worth of tickets to 42 screens to claim the fifth spot after a week ofpreviews. Thirteen, from 20th CenturyFox, grossed only NZ$5,231 from five screens but that was enough to land the19th place.
