A24 executive Rose Garnett and Palme d’Or winner Ken Loach are to speak as part of the Edinburgh International Film Festival industry programme, which runs from August 15-20.

Garnett, who has previously worked as director of BBC Film and head of creative at Film4, will be speaking as part of the Unified series, a partnership between EIFF and Amy Jackson and Lauren Dark’s nascent production company, Unified.  

Further execs speaking across the programme will be Eva Yates, director of BBC Film and Farhana Bhula, interim Film4 director.

Filmmakers that will take part in ‘in conversation’ events include Loach alongside his longstanding partners, writer Paul Laverty and producer Rebecca O’Brien; 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple and Candyman director Nia DaCosta; Eva Victor, director and star of EIFF opening night film Sorry, Baby, alongside the film’s producer Adele Romanski; and filmmaker and documentarian Kevin Macdonald, who will give the keynote with his brother, 28 franchise producer and EIFF chair Andrew Macdonald.

There will also be talks with producer Jeremy Thomas and filmmaker Mark Cousins; director Ben Wheatley with producer Andy Starke; Bird director Andrea Arnold; and Past Lives and Materialists producer David Hinojosa.

Animation Scotland and Animated Women UK are taking part in a panel on animation opportunities in Scotland.

The industry programme will take place at the festival hub at Tollcross Central Hall.

The full EIFF programme runs from August 14 to 20.
