EXCLUSIVE: Saban Films has bought all North American rights to Blair Moore’s action thriller Badland Rising from Australian sales outfit Odin’s Eye Films.
Badland Rising is about an ex-SAS sniper now working in construction who unwittingly makes off with cash stolen from a Russian mob drop. The cast is led by Jake Ryan and Nathan Phillips.
The Queensland-shot thriller, which screened late last year at the Brisbane International Film Festival, was produced by Flying Billykart Entertainment and Homeward Motion Pictures.
“Saban Films are true specialists in the action and thriller space, with a proven ability to position contained, high-intensity films for maximum impact,” said Michael Favelle, CEO of Odin’s Eye. “We’re thrilled to be partnering with a team that understands how to elevate muscular genre storytelling and connect it with the right audience.”
Saban is expected to launch Badland Rising in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Odin’s Eye’s EFM line-up also includes AI-generated documentary Post Truth, a recent audience award winner at Front Doc International Documentary Festival in Italy, and, through its animation arm, family fare such as Rock Bottom from Mexican powerhouse animation outfit Huevocartoon Studios and Hungarian-Canadian writer-director Anita Doron’s new animated feature, Fairyheart.
