Cannes Film Festival

The Cannes virtual market hub comprising US and UK independents, the Hollywood agencies and Wild Bunch will go live from June 22-28.

The platform starts on the same date as that being launched by the Cannes Film Festival’s Marché du Film, which is understood to run until June 26. The Marché is expected to confirm its dates tomorrow (April 17).

Led by CAA Media Finance, Endeavor Content, ICM Partners and UTA, the US-UK coalition of more than 30 players in the independent space was conceived as a contingency plan were the Marché du Film not to proceed in physical form due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It is being structured to offer global buyers access to screenings of finished films, early footage, filmmaker presentations, sales meetings and “other essential elements of a film market”.

Screenings and filmmaker presentations will be scheduled to accommodate a variety of time zones, given the remote nature of the market.

Details of sales packages and completed films will be announced in the coming weeks.

Participants include AGC Studios, FilmNation, HanWay Films, Voltage Pictures, Lionsgate International, Cornerstone Films, Mister Smith, CAA Media Finance, Endeavor Content, ICM International, UTA Independent Film Group, Wild Bunch International and WestEnd Films.

Also confirmed to take part at time of writing are: STX Entertainment, Protagonist Pictures, Rocket Science, Sierra Affinity, Miramax, 30West, Anton, Archstone Entertainment, Brickell & Broadbridge, Capstone Pictures, The Exchange, Goldfinch, Highland Film Group, Independent Group, Independent Film Sales, Mad River International, MPI Media Group, Solstice Studios, The Solution Entertainment and VMI Worldwide.
