Stars Zhang Ziyi, Liu Haoran and Terrance Lau are set to receive honours at the upcoming 19th Asian Film Awards in Hong Kong.

The Asian Film Awards Academy (AFAA) has revealed that Zhang will be feted with the excellence in Asian cinema award, Haoran will receive the AFA next generation award and Lau will be presented with the AFA rising star award.

All three awardees are due to attend the ceremony in person, which will take place at the Xiqu Centre in Hong Kong on Sunday (March 15).

Zhang has appeared in many of the most iconic Chinese-language cinema features of the past 25 years including Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Hero, House Of Flying Daggers and The Grandmaster.

Haoran, who rose to prominence with the blockbuster Detective Chinatown series, is widely regarded as one of the leading representatives of a new generation of Asian actors.

In recent years, Lau has attracted growing attention through a number of film roles, from an understated role in Trouble Girl to a striking presence in Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In. His credits also include Stuntman, Peg O’ My Heart and The Lychee Road.

In addition to the awards ceremony, AFAA will present a series of programmes around the event, including filmmaker conversations, masterclasses and Asian cinema screenings. It takes place just two days before the 30th Hong Kong Filmart (March 17-20).
