Lady producer John Giwa-Amu’s Good Gate Media and Screen Star of Tomorrow 2025 Tobi Kyeremateng’s Them Ones are among the 29 UK production companies to receive backing from the latest round of the BBC’s Small Indie Fund.

Further film companies to receive support are Juno Studios and Everybody To Kenmure Street producer barry crerar. Them Ones, Juno Studios and barry crerar all also received awards in 2025.

Lauren Dark and Amy Jackson’s Unified Productions, whose slate includes Shane Meadows’ Chork and Morven Christie’s upcoming Witchlight, is also receiving support, but through the TV strand.

The 29 companies – eight from film, 15 from TV and six for digital (such as visualised podcasts or creator-driven content) – will receive a share of £1.1m. A total of 83% of the companies are based in the nations and regions, while 79% have at least two individuals in key leadership roles who are from under-represented groups – the same number as last year.

Launched in 2020, the Small Indie Fund supports the growth of small qualifying independent production companies from across the UK with turnovers below £10 million across film, scripted, unscripted and children’s.
