EXCLUSIVE: Erik Engelen’s nascent Benelux distribution outfit 18K has snapped up three titles in Cannes official selection: Raoul Peck’s Cannes Premiere doc Orwell and two Directors’ Fortnight titles: Eva Victor’s Sorry Baby and Australian director Sean Byrne’s survival thriller Dangerous Animals.
The latter will be the company’s first release in June. Engelen is joined at 18k by former Telenet and Sony Pictures Entertainment exec Ziggy Moens.
Dangerous Animals will be 18K’s first release, going out on 60 to 70 screens in the Netherlands on June 12th. The Belgian release will follow in July
Further18K pick-ups include Mary Bronstein’s If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, Francis Lawrence’s Stephen King adaptation, The Long Walk, And Al Malik’s L’affaire de l’esclave Furcy, and Martin Bourboulon’s 13 Days, 13 Nights.
