‘Rave On’

EXCLUSIVE: Nikias Chryssos and Viktor Jakovleski’s techno music drama Rave On has sold to Njutafilms for Scandinavia, Unlimited Media for the Baltics and KyivMusicFilm for Ukraine for The Playmaker Munich, following the film’s launch at the American Film Market earlier this month

Rave On, filmed at real techno parties, has already been released by Weltkino in Germany following its premiere at the Munich Film Festival earlier this year.

The deep dive into the Berlin techno scene is the story of Kosmo, a once-celebrated DJ and techno producer who has been overtaken by a new generation of DJs but now wants to salvage his career. It combines a fictional narrative with guerrilla-style documentary footage.

The cast is led by actors Clemens Schick and Aaron Altaras, with real-life DJs, including Chicago-based veteran Hieroglyphic Being, and Berlin-born DJ Lucia Lu.

Ed Davenport and John Gürtler, along with other Berlin-based Techno artists, created some of the new tracks for the film’s soundtrack, which also includes various club classics.

Rave On is produced by Germany’s Telos Pictures, as a co-production with Hessischer Rundfunk/ARTE. It is supported by BKM, HessenFilm and DFFF.

“Berlin equals techno and techno equals Berlin,” said Gamze Celik, sales & acquisitions exec at The Playmaker Munich. ”We are more than happy to be bringing our trippy Rave On to cinemas worldwide to give everyone a glimpse of what a wild night out in Berlin may look like.”
