The Berlin International Film Festival has confirmed the European Film Market (EFM) will return as an in-person event for 2023 after two years online. 

The market will run February 16–22. with the Berlinale Co-Production Market (Feb 18–22), Berlinale Talents (Feb 18–23) and the World Cinema Fund (WCF) also set to take place on-site once again.

From next year, these initiatives will be grouped under the label Berlinale Pro*. The festival said: “This integrative model provides film creatives and industry reps with entry points into the Berlinale universe that suits their project and development status, as well as their professional level.”

The Berlinale will also launch the Berlinale Series Award in 2023, with a three-person jury selecting the winner from the Berlinale Series strand.

As previously announced, the Berlinale will run February 16-26, 2023.

The 2022 festival ran as a heavily restricted edition, with a capacity limit of 50% in cinemas and parties and red carpets cancelled, whilst the 2021 iteration was a virtual event.
